Product Specific Information
PA1-213A detects thyroid hormone receptor (TR) beta-1 from human and rat tissues.
This antibody does not detect TR alpha-1 or TRv alpha-2.
PA1-213A has been successfully used in Western blot, immunohistochemistry (paraffin), immunofluorescence, and gel shift assays.
By Western blot, it detects a ~55 kDa protein representing recombinant human TRv beta-1 expressed in E. coli.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to residues 62–81 of human TR beta-1, with an N-terminal added cysteine.
Alternative numbering places this peptide at residues 67–86 of human TR beta-1.
This sequence is completely conserved between human and rat TR beta-1.
Target Information
Thyroid hormone receptors (TR), also known as c-erbA-2, are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to hormone response elements upon hormone activation.
Thyroid hormones regulate metabolic processes, growth, and development by controlling expression of genes such as growth hormone, malic enzyme, and hepatic proteins.
There are two main forms of TR: TR alpha (chromosome 17) and TR beta (chromosome 3).
Each has two isoforms: TR alpha-1 / TRv alpha-2 and TR beta-1 / TR beta-2.
TRv alpha-2 does not bind T3 and acts as a strong negative regulator of TR function.
The gene encoding thyroid hormone receptor beta-1 is NR1A2.
