Target Information

This gene encodes a beta chemokine receptor predicted to be a seven-transmembrane protein similar to G protein-coupled receptors. Chemokines and their receptor-mediated signaling are essential for recruiting effector immune cells to inflammation sites.
It is expressed in various tissues and hemopoietic cells. Expression in lymphatic endothelial cells and vascular tumors suggests a role in chemokine-driven leukocyte recirculation and potential effects on vascular tumor development.
This receptor binds most beta-chemokine family members, though its specific function remains unclear. The gene is mapped to chromosome 3p21.3, within a cluster of chemokine receptor genes.
