TIM3 (Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2, HAVCR2, T-cell immunoglobulin, mucin-domain containing-3)는 281개의 아미노산으로 구성된 Type-1 Th1 특이 세포 표면 당단백질입니다.
CD4⁺ Th1 및 CD8⁺ Tc1 세포의 말기 분화 단계에서 발현되며, IgV-like 도메인과 mucin-like 도메인, 그리고 세포질 내 Tyrosine phosphorylation motif를 포함합니다.
TIM3는 대식세포 활성화 및 자가면역질환 유도에 관여하며, 공격적인 Th1 매개 면역반응을 억제하고 면역 관용 발달을 촉진합니다.
병리학적으로는 실험적 자가면역 뇌척수염(EAE)과 관련이 있으며, 해당 질환의 중증도를 증가시키는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
