MAPK14 (p38 alpha)는 스트레스 활성화 단백질 키나아제(MAPK) 계열에 속합니다.
p38 MAPK 경로는 스트레스, 염증 등 다양한 자극에 대한 세포 반응을 조절합니다.
비인산화 상태에서는 비활성형이며, Thr-Gly-Tyr 모티프의 이중 인산화에 의해 활성화됩니다.
4가지 p38 MAPK 이소폼은 조직 발현 및 상위/하위 조절 인자에 대한 친화도가 다릅니다.
TNF, IL-1, 열충격 등의 자극 시 MAPK kinase-3/6이 Thr180과 Tyr182 잔기를 인산화하여 p38 MAPK를 활성화시킵니다.
활성화된 p38 MAPK는 ATF-2, CHOP-1, MEF-2 등의 전사인자를 인산화하여 활성화합니다.
