Target Information
TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of cool sensations, activated by cold temperatures below 25°C. It responds to icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, and changes in intracellular pH. TRPM8 is permeable to monovalent cations (Na⁺, K⁺, Cs⁺) and divalent cation (Ca²⁺). Expression is mainly in prostate epithelial cells, with elevated levels in prostate cancer and certain nonprostatic tumors (breast, colon, lung, skin).
