Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-45513 was sufficient for detection of MMP9 in 20 µg of COS-1 cell lysate transfected with human MMP9 by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 92 kDa (pro form) and approximately 82 kDa (active form).
This antibody was formerly sold as S51-82.

Target Information

MMP9 (matrix metallopeptidase 9, GELB, CLG4B) is a zinc and calcium-dependent endopeptidase that degrades extracellular matrix proteins. It is secreted as a 92 kDa zymogen, which is cleaved to an active 82 kDa enzyme.
MMP9 has multiple structural domains including a gelatin-binding domain, catalytic domain, collagen-homologous domain, and a hemopexin-like domain.
It is expressed by monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, osteoclasts, and endothelial cells, and plays roles in inflammatory response, tissue remodeling, wound healing, tumor growth, and metastasis.
MMP9 contributes to skin carcinogenesis and degrades type IV and V collagens.
Studies indicate involvement in IL-8-induced mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells, tumor-associated tissue remodeling, and progression of idiopathic atrial fibrillation and aortic aneurysm.
