Product Specific Information

This TULY56 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM), a highly glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons, NK cells, and NKT cells. It mediates homotypic adhesion of neural cells.

• Epitope: TULY56 does not block CMSSB binding, indicating distinct epitopes.
• Performance: Performs better after fixation and permeabilization than CMSSB.
• Cross-reactivity: Rhesus macaque.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family involved in cell adhesion and neural development. It is expressed in the nervous system and on T and NK cells, contributing to cell migration, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity. Polysialic modification reduces adhesion activity.

CD56 is expressed in neuroectodermal-derived cells and tumors such as retinoblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, and neuroblastoma. It is a key neuroendocrine marker with high sensitivity for neuroendocrine and ovarian granulosa cell tumors. CD56 dysfunction is associated with rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
