Mouse anti-aldosterone antibody, clone 1-33.1 recognizes Aldosterone, a steroid hormone (mineralocorticoid family) produced by the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex. It regulates the body's electrolyte and water balance.
Target Information
Aldosterone is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that helps regulate blood pressure by increasing potassium release and promoting water and sodium uptake in the kidneys. It is essential for sodium conservation in the kidney, salivary glands, sweat glands, and colon.
Aldosterone acts on mineralocorticoid receptors in the distal tubules and collecting ducts of the nephron, influencing sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion, thus affecting water retention, blood pressure, and blood volume.
When dysregulated, aldosterone contributes to cardiovascular and renal disease. It has the opposite function of atrial natriuretic hormone secreted by the heart.
