Target Information
Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMPs) are members of the TGF-beta superfamily that influence bone and cartilage formation. Mature BMPs (30–38 kDa) exhibit a TGF-beta-like cysteine knot structure. BMPs regulate bone matrix protein production, stromal cell and osteoclast proliferation, and play roles in development, differentiation, and morphogenesis. They interact with type II and type I receptors to activate the Smad signaling pathway.
