Target Information
MPP5 (Membrane Protein, Palmitoylated 5) plays a critical role in neurogenesis and hematopoiesis. It is essential for establishing and maintaining cell polarity in epithelial cells and neurons and functions as part of the Par-3 complex to maintain tight junctions.
Mutations in MPP5 are associated with severe neurological impairments, including global developmental delay (GDD) and behavioral changes. In animal models, MPP5 is involved in early differentiation of multipotent progenitors and supports lineage-specific contributions in myeloid and lymphoid cells. MPP5 variants can disrupt normal cellular function, leading to developmental and functional abnormalities.
