Target Information
MPP5 (Membrane Protein, Palmitoylated 5) plays a critical role in neurogenesis and hematopoiesis. It is essential for establishing and maintaining cell polarity in epithelial cells and neurons. MPP5 is part of the Par-3 complex, which supports tight junction formation in epithelial cells.
Mutations in MPP5 are linked to severe neurological impairments, including global developmental delay and behavioral changes.
In animal models, MPP5 contributes to early differentiation of multipotent progenitors and supports long-term myeloid and lymphoid lineage development. Disruption of MPP5 function leads to significant developmental and functional abnormalities.
