CLN6는 311개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 7개의 예측된 막관통 도메인을 가지고 있으며 척추동물에서 보존되어 있습니다. CLN6 단백질은 소포체에 위치하지만 리소좀 기능에 관여합니다. CLN6 유전자 변이는 variant late-onset infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (vLINCL)을 유발하며, 이는 진행성 정신 퇴행과 실명을 특징으로 하는 리소좀 저장 질환입니다. CLN6은 CLN1–8을 포함하는 NCL 관련 단백질 그룹 중 하나입니다.
