Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
The KRAB (Kruppel-associated box) domain (~45 amino acids) is a transcriptional repression domain found in numerous transcription factors. Over 220 KRAB-zinc finger protein (KRAB-ZFP) genes are identified in the human genome. These proteins repress transcription via interactions with KAP-1 (KRAB-associated protein 1).
KAP-1 is an 835 amino acid polypeptide containing RING finger, B boxes, and PHD finger domains. It forms complexes with KRAB-domain transcription factors to mediate transcriptional repression and interacts directly with HP1 and KRAZ1.
KAP-1 targets KRAZ1 to centromeric heterochromatin containing HP1α, regulating transcriptional repression. Mutants unable to bind HP1 lead to random KRAZ1 distribution and transcriptional activation.
