Target Information
PAX7 is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors, containing a paired box domain, octapeptide, and paired-type homeodomain. These genes play critical roles in fetal development and cancer growth.
PAX7 may function as a tumor suppressor, as its fusion with a forkhead domain family member has been associated with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
