This antibody detects SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein, but does not cross-react with SARS-CoV or MERS-CoV nucleocapsid proteins based on internal testing.
Target Information
SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid Protein is associated with nucleic acid and is the most abundant coronavirus protein. Due to its strong immunogenicity, it has potential diagnostic value. The N protein is an RNA-binding protein essential for viral genome packaging, containing dynamic disordered regions with transiently-helical motifs. Its flexible, multivalent nature enables minimal interaction between folded domains. SARS-CoV-2 causes illnesses ranging from common cold to severe diseases.
