Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening of individual clones to select optimal candidates for production.

Target Information

Calnexin (also known as IP90, p88, p90) is an approximately 90 kDa integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It functions as a molecular chaperone, assisting in the proper folding and assembly of polypeptides and multisubunit proteins.

Calnexin associates with MHC class I heavy chains, partial complexes of the T cell receptor, and B cell membrane immunoglobulin, but not with fully assembled receptor complexes. It retains improperly folded proteins in the ER.

Unlike soluble ER resident proteins (which often contain the KDEL sequence), calnexin lacks this motif but has positively charged cytosolic residues that ensure ER retention. Structurally, calnexin includes:

• A large ER luminal domain (461 amino acids)
• A transmembrane segment (22 amino acids)
• A cytoplasmic tail (89 amino acids)
