Target Information

DISC1 (Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1) is a multifunctional protein interacting with centrosomal and cytoskeletal proteins. It plays a key role in neuronal migration, neurite architecture, and intracellular transport. DISC1 is expressed in several brain regions including hippocampus, cortex, cerebellum, and hypothalamus. Mutations or translocations in the DISC1 gene are associated with schizophrenia. DISC1 interacts with proteins such as MIPT3, MAP1A, NUDEL, α-actinin 2, β4-spectrin, ATF-4, and ATF-5, implicating it in dendritic development and synapse formation.
