Target Information
FANCD2 (Fanconi anemia group D2 protein) is essential for maintaining chromosomal stability and ensuring accurate homolog pairing during meiosis. It participates in DNA double-strand break repair via homologous recombination and single-stranded annealing. FANCD2 stabilizes BLM under replicative stress and facilitates BRCA2/FANCD1 loading onto damaged chromatin.
Defects in the FANCD2 gene cause Fanconi anemia complementation group D2, resulting in anemia, leukopenia, and thrombopenia due to bone marrow dysfunction.
