Description:
The HIP8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD41 molecule (integrin alpha IIb, platelet GPIIb). CD41 associates with integrin beta3 (CD61) and is expressed by megakaryocytes and platelets. The CD41/CD61 complex acts as a receptor for fibronectin, fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, vitronectin, and thrombospondin, mediating platelet aggregation. HIP8 blocks platelet aggregation.

Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may vary (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information
CD41 (platelet glycoprotein IIb, ITGA2B) consists of two subunits (120 kDa α and 23 kDa β) that interact with CD61 in calcium presence to form an adhesive receptor. It mediates platelet aggregation and binds von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin, and vitronectin upon vascular injury. Expressed mainly on megakaryocyte-platelet lineage, CD41 is also present in early hematopoietic differentiation.
