This antibody detects endogenous levels of the activated Caspase 3 fragment resulting from cleavage adjacent to Asp175.


Target Information

The CASP3 gene encodes a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family, which plays a central role in the execution phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases are synthesized as inactive proenzymes and activated by proteolytic cleavage at conserved aspartic residues, forming active dimers. Caspase 3 cleaves and activates caspases 6, 7, and 9, and is itself processed by caspases 8, 9, and 10. It is the predominant caspase involved in the cleavage of amyloid-beta 4A precursor protein, linked to neuronal death in Alzheimer’s disease. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein.
