Target Information
FOXO1, FOXO3, and FOXO4 belong to the forkhead family of transcription factors.
- FOXO1 (FKHR): A 70 kDa protein acting as a coactivator or corepressor of nuclear receptor activity through the LXXLL motif in its C-terminus. The specific gene function is not fully determined.
- FOXO3: Functions as a trigger for apoptosis by inducing expression of cell death-related genes. Translocation with the MLL gene is linked to secondary acute leukemia.
- FOXO4: Regulates the insulin signaling pathway by binding to insulin-response elements (IREs) and activating IGFBP1 transcription. It down-regulates HIF1A expression and suppresses hypoxia-induced transcriptional activation, contributing to negative regulation of the cell cycle.
