Target Information
LIMK1 is a serine/threonine kinase involved in regulating actin cytoskeletal changes via phosphorylation of cofilin. It plays roles in brain development and belongs to a subfamily with two N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal kinase domain. LIM domains are cysteine-rich structures containing two zinc fingers that mediate protein-protein interactions. LIMK1 hemizygosity is associated with visuospatial cognition impairment in Williams syndrome.
