Target Information
Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18)은 저분자량 케라틴의 산성(type A) 하위군에 속하며, Cytokeratin 8과 함께 존재합니다.
소화기, 호흡기, 비뇨생식기, 내분비 및 외분비 조직, 중피세포 등에서 발현됩니다.
주로 비편평 상피(non-squamous epithelia)에서 발견되며, 대부분의 선암(adenocarcinoma)과 관암(ductal carcinoma)에서 발현됩니다.
편평세포암(squamous cell carcinoma)에서는 발현되지 않습니다.
간세포암(hepatocellular carcinoma)은 Cytokeratin 8과 18만을 발현합니다.
Cytokeratin 18 유전자 돌연변이는 cryptogenic cirrhosis와 관련이 있습니다.
이 유전자는 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 두 개의 전사체 변이(transcript variant)를 가집니다.
Cytokeratin 아형 발현 패턴은 다양한 상피성 악성종양의 감별 진단에 유용하게 사용되며, 면역조직화학, 세포병리학, 유세포분석(flow cytometry) 등에서도 활용됩니다.
