Target Information
O6-Methylguanine-DNA Methyltransferase (MGMT) is a key DNA repair protein that contributes to tumor cell resistance against chemotherapeutic alkylating agents. It protects normal cells from genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of DNA alkylation by removing alkyl groups from the O6 position of guanine. MGMT expression levels vary depending on cell type, tissue, species, and growth characteristics, as well as among and within tumor types.
