Target Information
CD20 is a non-glycosylated surface phosphoprotein with a molecular weight of 33–37 kDa depending on phosphorylation. It is expressed on mature and most malignant B cells, a subset of T lymphocytes, and follicular dendritic cells. CD20 regulates transmembrane calcium conductance, cell cycle progression, and B-cell proliferation. It associates with lipid rafts, and its localization changes upon extracellular triggering or BCR aggregation. CD20 remains on the cell surface after antibody treatment, making it a valuable target for B-cell depletion therapies. Dysfunctions in CD20 are linked to Ms4a1-related common variable immune deficiency.
