This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope on the CD104 molecule.

Target Information

Integrins are heterodimers composed of alpha and beta subunits, forming noncovalently associated transmembrane glycoprotein receptors. Different combinations of these subunits determine ligand-binding specificity. Integrins mediate cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion and transmit signals regulating gene expression and cell growth.
The integrin beta 4 subunit, encoded by this gene, acts as a receptor for laminins and associates with the alpha 6 subunit. It plays a crucial role in invasive carcinoma biology. Mutations in this gene are linked to epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
