Description:
The AN-G30 monoclonal antibody reacts with human gp130 (CD130), the common receptor subunit for the IL-6 family of cytokines including IL-6, IL-11, IL-27, Oncostatin M, and LIF. gp130 is expressed on various cell types such as T cells, mast cells, and epithelial cells. Soluble gp130 forms are found in human serum. Upon ligand binding, gp130 signals through JAK-STAT, MAPK, and PI3 kinase pathways.
Applications Reported:
This antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunoblotting (WB).
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use ≤ 0.125 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.
Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
The encoded protein acts as a signal transducer shared by multiple cytokines, including IL-6, CNTF, LIF, and OSM. It functions within the cytokine receptor complex, with activation dependent on cytokine binding. vIL6 from Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus can directly activate this protein without IL6R. Knockout mouse studies indicate a role in regulating myocyte apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
