Target Information
This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. The encoded subunit belongs to the SOP2 family and is most similar to ARPC1A. Both proteins may function as the p41 subunit of the Arp2/3 complex, which regulates actin polymerization. The p41 subunit may help assemble and maintain the structure of the complex, and multiple variants may adapt its function to different cell types or developmental stages. Additionally, this protein contributes to centrosomal homeostasis as an activator and substrate of Aurora A kinase.
