Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human EGF. Anti-Human EGF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
Sandwich ELISA:
To detect hEGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human EGF (500-P45) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant hEGF.
Western Blot:
To detect hEGF by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hEGF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information
EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) binds to the EGF receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase. Activation of EGFR initiates diverse cellular pathways in response to environmental stimuli. EGFR forms homo- or heterodimers with other family members, each initiating distinct signaling cascades via SH2 domain-containing effector proteins.
EGF is widely expressed in kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands, acting as a potent mitogenic factor. The phosphorylated receptor recruits adapter proteins like GRB2, activating downstream signaling cascades including RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT pathways.
EGF may also play a role in NF-κB activation. Defects in the EGF gene cause hypomagnesemia type 4, and dysregulation is associated with certain cancers.
