OPA1 is a dynamin-related GTPase essential for maintaining mitochondrial morphology and mtDNA integrity. OPA1 dysfunction is also implicated in certain neurological conditions, including schizophrenia, through its role in mitochondrial network regulation, apoptosis, and cellular metabolism.
