Takara MiraCell cardiomyocytes

MiraCell cardiomyocytes (from ChiPSC12) are highly pure cardiomyocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, and can be used to study characteristics and functions of cardiomyocytes. In addition to analysis of cardiomyocyte physiological function, they can also be widely used for cardiotoxicity testing with various drugs using an MEA (multi-electrode array) system.

This kit was jointly developed with iHeart Japan Corporation, and utilizes a cardiomyocyte production technique through which highly pure cardiomyocytes are prepared without drug selection (e.g., puromycin selection, etc.) using a cardiomyocyte-specific promoter (α-MHC). This technique avoids the reduction in purity that would normally occur with long-term culture (e.g., we observed no change in purity following 90 days in culture). The Cellartis human iPS cell line ChiPSC12 (Cat. # Y00285), cultured under feeder-free conditions using the Cellartis DEF-CS 500 Culture System (Cat. # Y30010), was used in the manufacture of these cells. This kit contains one vial of cardiomyocytes (>3 x 106 viable cells), one bottle of thawing medium, and one bottle of culture medium.
