Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of C/EBP alpha only when phosphorylated at Serine 21.
Target Information
The C/EBP (CCAAT/enhancer binding protein) family of transcription factors—alpha, beta, delta, and epsilon—are widely expressed proteins found in various tissues. These domains contain an evolutionarily conserved five-amino acid motif (the regulatory domain motif RDM) that conforms to the consensus sequence (I/V/L)KXEP.
C/EBP transcription factors play major roles in metabolic regulation in liver and fat cells and are involved in adipocyte development.
Three C/EBP beta isoforms (LAP*, LAP, and LIP) arise from different translation initiation sites and display distinct functions in gene regulation.
C/EBPs also contribute to neurological processes such as nerve growth factor mediation, synaptic plasticity, and inflammatory response modulation in Alzheimer’s disease.
