This antibody is specific for Apolipoprotein E4 and shows no cross-reactivity with ApoE2 or ApoE3.
Target Information
Apo E (Apolipoprotein E) plays an important role in lipid metabolism in plasma and is a constituent of various plasma lipoprotein-lipid particles. It is synthesized in the liver, brain, spleen, and kidney, and found at high concentrations in interstitial fluids. Apo E facilitates cholesterol transport from cells with excess cholesterol to cells requiring it and contributes to the formation of very low-density lipoproteins and chylomicrons. The Apo E gene is located on chromosome 19 at position 19q13.2.
