MA3019A555 detects protein disulfide-isomerase (PDI) from human, rat, porcine, and mouse tissues as well as hamster cells.
The MA3019A555 antigen is purified rat PDI.


Target Information

Protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) is a multifunctional protein that catalyzes the formation, breakage, and rearrangement of disulfide bonds.
At the cell surface, it acts as a reductase that cleaves disulfide bonds of proteins attached to the cell, potentially modifying exofacial protein structures.
Inside the cell, PDI rearranges disulfide bonds of nascent proteins and acts as a chaperone at high concentrations to inhibit aggregation of misfolded proteins.
At low concentrations, it facilitates aggregation (anti-chaperone activity).
PDI may also function with other chaperones in the structural modification of the TG precursor in hormone biogenesis and serves as a structural subunit of enzymes such as prolyl 4-hydroxylase and microsomal triacylglycerol transfer protein (MTTP).
It acts as a receptor for LGALS9, retaining P4HB at the cell surface of Th2 T helper cells, enhancing disulfide reductase activity, and promoting cell migration.
