Target Information
KCNJ3 encodes a potassium channel regulated by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels preferentially allow potassium influx rather than efflux. Their voltage dependence is influenced by extracellular potassium concentration, shifting channel opening to more positive voltages as external potassium increases. Inward rectification mainly results from internal magnesium blocking outward current. This receptor is essential for heartbeat regulation.
