Target Information
Inward rectifying potassium channel activated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. Participates in controlling resting membrane potential and excitability of neuronal and muscle tissues.
These channels preferentially allow potassium influx rather than efflux, with voltage dependence regulated by extracellular potassium concentration. Inward rectification results mainly from blockage of outward current by internal magnesium.
