Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a family of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins (20–30 kDa) include six isoforms categorized as typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx. Prx I, II, and VI are found in the cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretion; and Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol. Except Prx VI, other 2-Cys Prxs exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system.
