Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins are categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys types. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH. Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa and vary in localization: Prx I, II, VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretory pathways; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
