Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
BRCA1-associated protein-1 (BAP1) interacts with the RING finger domain of BRCA1. The N-terminal region of the 729-amino acid protein shows homology to ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolases (UCHs), which catalyze proteolytic processing of ubiquitin. BAP1 contains acidic and highly charged C-terminal regions and two nuclear localization signals. It associates with BRCA1 and enhances BRCA1-mediated inhibition of breast cancer cell growth. BAP1 is expressed broadly in human tissues, with a testis-specific transcript variant. The BAP1 gene is located at 3p21.3, a region frequently deleted in lung and breast carcinomas, suggesting its role as a tumor suppressor in the BRCA1 growth control pathway.
