Target Information

Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a vital role in brain development.
Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications of the ALK gene are associated with several tumors, including:

  • Anaplastic large cell lymphoma
  • Neuroblastoma
  • Non-small cell lung cancer

Chromosomal rearrangement often leads to fusion of the ALK gene (chromosome 2) with the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene (chromosome 5), producing the oncogenic NPM‑ALK fusion protein.
ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK.
It is essential for neuronal development and signaling in the nervous system.
