Product Specific Information

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Advantages:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filaments of epithelial cells, found in both keratinizing and non-keratinizing tissues. At least 20 different CKs are known, classified as type I (acidic polypeptides) or type II (basic polypeptides).

Keratin 14, a type I low molecular weight keratin, forms a pair with keratin 5 and is a marker distinguishing stratified epithelial cells from simple epithelial cells. It is useful for identifying squamous cell carcinomas and is considered a prognostic marker in breast carcinomas. Both acidic and basic keratins are expressed in all epithelial cells.
