The eBio64DEC17 antibody reacts with human IL-17A and functions as a neutralizing antibody.
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a CD4⁺ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses and is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection.
Human IL-17A exists as a glycosylated 20–30 kDa homodimer and induces expression of ICAM-1 in fibroblasts. It also stimulates epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2. In fibroblasts, IL-17A supports CD34⁺ progenitor proliferation and neutrophil maturation. Mouse, rat, and human IL-17A can induce IL-6 secretion in mouse stromal cells, indicating cross-species receptor recognition.
IL-23-dependent, IL-17A-producing CD4⁺ T cells (Th17 cells) represent a unique subset distinct from Th1 and Th2 pathways. IFN-γ and IL-4 negatively regulate Th17 differentiation. Intracellular staining by eBio64DEC17 identifies the same population as eBio64CAP17.
Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated for intracellular staining and flow cytometry of stimulated human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test (100 µL final volume).

Target Information
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a 32 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer cytokine produced by CD4⁺ T cells. It is part of the IL-17 family (IL-17A–F) and signals through IL-17R/CDw217. IL-17A regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, induces IL-6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide production. Elevated IL-17A levels are associated with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, and psoriasis.
