Description:
The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13. IL-13 is a cytokine produced mainly by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. It is involved in allergic inflammation, parasitic clearance, and tumor-related immune modulation. In humans, IL-13 contributes to B cell isotype switching and downregulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12).
Applications Reported:
- Useful for ELISA and ELISPOT capture
- Suitable for intracellular staining in flow cytometry
Applications Tested:
- Tested for intracellular staining of cultured mouse splenocytes
- Recommended ≤0.25 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume)
- Optimal antibody concentration should be titrated per assay
- Applicable cell count: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test

Target Information
IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells, regulating inflammatory and immune responses. It down-regulates macrophage activity, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and contributes to allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils. IL-13 also influences B cell maturation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II, and promotes IgE isotype switching.
The IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster alongside IL3, IL4, IL5, and CSF2.
