Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the STE7 family. It phosphorylates and activates JNK1, JNK2, and p38 kinases, preferentially targeting the tyrosine residue of JNKs.
MAP2K4 mediates cellular responses to stress and inflammatory cytokines and is implicated in carcinogenesis. Loss-of-function mutations have been found in lung and pancreatic tumors, while pro-oncogenic roles have also been reported.
