Target Information

BACH1.3 is a transcription factor belonging to the cap’n’collar type of basic region leucine zipper factor family (CNC-bZip).
The encoded protein contains BTB/POZ domains typical of CNC-bZip family members, facilitating protein–protein interactions and homo/hetero oligomer formation.
When forming a heterodimer with MafK, it acts as a repressor of Maf recognition element (MARE) transcription.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified. Some exons overlap with those of the C21orf41 gene, transcribed in the opposite orientation but non-coding.
