PA1-9532 detects Thymosin in human, mouse, pig, and rat samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA procedures.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide based on human thymosin protein.
Target Information
The thymus gland produces several hormones or hormone-like substances derived from a polypeptide precursor known as prothymosin-alpha, containing 113 amino acids in the rat.
A peptide of 28 amino acids, thymosin-alpha-1, was originally isolated from calf thymosin fraction 5 and shown to restore immune function in various in vitro and in vivo systems.
Thymosin-alpha-1 was later isolated from human thymosin and found to share the same amino acid sequence as bovine thymosin-alpha-1.
In 2003, Jiang et al. identified a pathway regulating mitochondria-initiated caspase activity, where PHAP promoted caspase-9 activation after apoptosome formation, while prothymosin-alpha-1 negatively regulated this process by inhibiting apoptosome formation.
