PA1-9534 detects C4b complement in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ELISA procedures.
By Western blot, PA1-9534 detects 88 kDa, 75 kDa, and 33 kDa proteins representing C4b complement.
Immunogen is purified human C4b complement protein.
Store product at 4ºC for up to one week and -20ºC for long-term.

Target Information

This gene encodes complement factor 4, part of the classical activation pathway.
The protein is expressed as a single chain precursor that is cleaved into a trimer of alpha, beta, and gamma chains before secretion.
The trimer interacts with antigen-antibody complexes and other complement components.
The alpha chain may release C4 anaphylatoxin, a mediator of local inflammation.
Deficiency of this protein is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus.
This gene is located in the MHC class III region on chromosome 6, and individuals may have 1–3 copies depending on haplotype.
It exists as long and short forms due to the presence or absence of a 6.4 kb endogenous HERV-K retrovirus in intron 9.
