Target Information
Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates lipid and glucose metabolism. It plays a key role in homeostasis and obesity. Lower adiponectin levels are linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. In mice, adiponectin enhances insulin signaling and reduces insulin resistance by activating AMP kinase and PPAR-alpha, promoting fatty acid transport and oxidation in skeletal muscle.
