Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) family of ligands, a subgroup within the TGF-beta superfamily. These ligands possess neurotrophic properties and have potential applications in gene therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. Artemin supports the survival of various peripheral neuron populations and certain dopaminergic CNS neurons. Its expression near these neurons supports its role in both the PNS and CNS. Artemin acts as a ligand for the RET receptor and utilizes GFR-alpha 3 as a coreceptor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
