This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, mouse, and non-human primate based on 100% sequence homology.
Target Information
Dynamin is a GTPase required for endocytosis of clathrin-coated vesicles from the membrane. Dynamin’s role in endocytosis was first identified in Drosophila melanogaster through the temperature-sensitive shibire mutation.
Three closely related isoforms exist in mammals:
- Dynamin 1: Expressed exclusively in neurons
- Dynamin 2: Ubiquitously expressed
- Dynamin 3: Primarily expressed in testes
Each isoform has multiple splice variants that may function in distinct vesicle budding processes.
Dynamin proteins share common domains:
- N-terminal GTPase domain
- Central pleckstrin homology domain
- Proline-rich C-terminal region with SH3 domains
These SH3 domains target dynamin to clathrin-coated pits. Dynamin interacts with AP2 adaptor protein complex and amphiphysin.
